About the event

A class like no other! Carving, Casting, and Coloring all wrapped up into one FUN workshop. Increase revenue with newly acquired skills. Warren will take you through the nuts and bolts of creating one of a kind functional art, with emphasis on  design, color theory, mix materials, and business tips. Subject matter to include: Simulated rock, replicated wood stumps, and a casted wood look LIVE edge furniture table with legs. Call 509-979-5249 with any questions you may have.

Subject Matter

Tree Stump: We will cover everything for how to ORGANICALLY shape  attractive looking stumps that can be used for fire pits, log bench seating, custom furniture, hand hewn fireplace mantels, and water features. Proper wood graining techniques will add a major bump up in realism. You will understand the importance of proper geometry, adding knots, insect damage,  along with many tricks and tips.

Rock Boulder with Signage: This will illustrate how to create a boulder from start to finish with empa Wsis on proper shape including the do's and dont's to shape work. Along with this, we will be embedding some CNC routed out lettering to provide an "engraved"look for custom signage. Healthy profit margins to be made in this arena because the competition requires acquire a boulder from the quarry, transport, sandblast or waterjet letter out and becomes expensive along the way but designers and homeowners love them and are willing to pay for such. The techniques shown can be used for an array of stone type carvings; rock water features, rock walls, hardscapes, diving rocks, pilasters, fireplaces, hearths and much more!

Casted GFRC LIVE EDGE Wood Table: Add an additional revenue stream with this attractive "one of a kind" mold that Warren Ness personally created. The table can be reproduced many times over and colored with different color schemes that one can offer their client. Warren will show you how to craft up an SCC (self consolidating concrete) mix which will be  poured into the mold. Mix requires special attention to detail along with specific sequencing to ensure a great output product. Table mix specs out at 10,000 psi so it is extremely durable. These tables are selling 850.00 to 950.00 due to their indoor/outdoor rating and only cost a fraction of that including labor. A must have for those production shops who are looking to add "one offs"!

The fun part most struggle with, COLOR

Learn how to color concrete like a pro! We will cover the essentials to proper coloring of concrete, attractive color schemes, blending/glazing color with the use of multiple devices. Color is like MUSIC, it needs to be in harmony  and just like musical notes they need to "play well" with one another. We all seen good work gone bad due to a bad coloring job and vice a verse, sub par work drastically enhanced with a dazzling color job. The techniques shown in this portion of class can be used for; carved concrete, stamped overlay/concrete, waterfeature, wall art, GFRC, and much more.
