Carving for Profit- Intermediate Level

Come join us! This class will be an intermediate level workshop. We will be demonstrating hands on techniques for better carving and workflow efficiency equipped with all the bells and whistles. We will be creating some large format stone (granite style), boulder type rock, and a hand carved planter rock.

 

Workshop Outline:

DAY 1

7:30: Breakfast

8:00: Introduction - Basic lecture of materials used in the industry in regards to different looks, textures, and finishes

9:30: Building Methods for Vertical Concrete

10:30: Prepare and shape foam substrate/Lecture on Hardcoat Mix Designs

12:00: Lunch

12:30-4:00 Prepare and Apply Carving Mix- Preshape/Modify 

                        Composing the Compostion

                       Texturing Techniques

                        Carving Techniques

                        Skip Flaking and Fracturing Techniques (Realism Enhancer)

Day 2

7:30: Breakfast

8:00: Recap and review of day 1 (Questions and Answer session)

8:30: Color - In depth Lecture

9:00: Avoiding Muddying Color- Using the "simplified" method for color mixing

10:00: Color Composition for Realism

11:30 Base Coat Application

12:00: Lunch

12:30: Mid Tone Application

1:30:  Fracturing/Distressing Techniques and Final Finishes

4:00: Business Profit/ Time Saving Techniques
